A Journey of Mindfulness, Mental Health and Conscious Living

Normalizing Therapy
There is a stigma around Mental Health in the Philippines. This stigma is the reason many people suffer in silence, and never get the professional help they truly need as well as any form of a real support system. Therapy needs to be normalized in order for individuals to get the psychological first aid they need in times of a mental health crisis like this pandemic. Knowing when to ask for help is actually a strength, not a weakness.

Toxic Positivity vs. Genuine Optimism
There’s a difference between being genuinely optimistic and toxic positivity. Being a toxic positive person, invalidates the pain or experience of another person. Cliches like “Think positive” or “Others have it worse” or “Good vibes only” towards someone grieving a death or suffering mental health conditions only make it worse. Trusting the right professionals or open minded individuals who can hold space for you is extremely important for your Mental Health.

Postpartum Depression
Postpartum depression is not given enough attention it deserves. The physical and psychological aspects of post pregnancy can take a toll on your mental health. Crying spells, low energy, sleepless nights and sadness is completely normal as you transition into motherhood. It is helpful not to compare your motherhood journey to others, as it can be a cause of additional stress and pressure. Your journey into motherhood is unique and beautiful, so embrace that.
